Hi Baysiders,
This week we start a new series,
“The Top Ten Principles for Better Living!”
Message #1. Building a Strong Family.
This is a great series to invite a friend or another family in the neighborhood. I just read an article in Newsweek Magazine entitled: “The Divorce Generation Grows Up; The kids of Grant High’s class of ‘82 were raised on The Brady Bunch, while their own families were falling apart. These are their stories in their words.”
One line in that article caught my attention, “…the myth of the nuclear family exploded, and my generation was caught in the fallout.” The word that stood out to me was, “myth.” Is the stability and security of the family really a ‘myth?’ Are there any strategies that can stop the chain reaction that tears homes apart? Will God really honor homes that honor Him?
We’ll be analyzing all that, this week at Bayside of Lincoln.
This series is based on the Ten Commandments and how they can positively impact our everyday lives. Take some time and read through them before Sunday in Exodus 20. Notice how they’re all stated in the negative? I wonder why? I might answer that question this Sunday! Ever notice how the first five are written about people in authority in our lives and the second 5 are moral axioms? I might comment on that this Sunday! Ever wonder what in the world that has to do with our families? I might discuss that this Sunday!
Get signed up for Cactus Canyon Breakaway ‘08 for Kindergarten through 5th Grade. June 23-27 in the evening, 6:30-8:30 pm, at 12 Bridges ELEMENTARY School. Cost is $30.00 per child or $80.00 max. We also are in great need of trail guides, craft helpers, recreation leaders etc. Please get signed up Sunday on your blue Welcome Card to serve at Breakaway!
Be a founding member of Bayside of Lincoln … attend our first official church business meeting scheduled for June 29th. We need to approve our constitution, approve our budget and approve our first group of official “Bayside Leadership Team,” members, and finally approve our first founding members of our church. It will be a great time of celebration as we officially birth a new church! You’ll be able to pick up all the above documents at church by June 15th.
God bless and Father’s Day is coming June 15th, (I’ve already given my list to my kids),
