What is a Prayer Ministry?

A prayer ministry is an organized, planned prayer effort within a church.  It is a ministry that is strategic in its purpose and intent.  It is not just assuming prayer will get done, but making sure it happens.  Think about it this way – there are children’s ministries, youth ministries, missions ministries, discipleship ministries, pastoral care ministries, outreach ministries, and so on.  But is there a prayer ministry?

What if prayer became a ministry that was organized and planned?  What if there were opportunities for people to pray together?  What if there were prayer efforts that focused our prayers in a particular area?  What if there was a room set aside for nothing but prayer, where people would sign up to come pray one hour a week in that room for the requests that were there?  What if there were prayer teams that prayed each Sunday while the worship service was in progress?  What if we strategically prayed evangelistically?  What if church members were given a prayer guide for their individual prayer time that focused on praying for the church?  Do you think good things would happen?  Yes!  There is no way they can’t!  God’s word promises when we pray according to His will, He will answer!
